Past Skysisters Events

"I’ve always thought that skydiving chicks were the coolest kinda chicks around. (Now I know it.)

The concept of a female skydiving convention was an idea in my mind for a number of years. I felt that it was high time to get the girls together for some fun jumping action and skill development, go for a new record and talk secret women’s business. After hearing of Project XX, a get together of the Aussie female jumpers in the early 90s, I was convinced that the Skysisters concept would work and I was very motivated to create an event that was more than just a boogie.

There are so few of us. In fact, we boast 421 licensed female skydivers in Australia, 42 of whom are Instructors. It doesn’t sound like many, but that number is sure up on 20 years ago. In these times of a declining membership, we are actually growing strong and over a quarter of our population attended Skysisters 2005.

With retention always playing on my mind, I feel somewhat protective of our female skydiving population and really want to see it thrive. Communication and education are high priorities for growth, so it was important to me that pertinent information and experiences be shared amongst the sisterhood. We have to look after each other. There are health issues we need to consider, 4-way teams and tandem ratings to explore, awareness of national development needed and of course there is the never-ending skydiving learning curve to travel."   Susie Mc, 2005
